MECHANICAL ENGINEERS
 Primary Responsibilities
• Mechanical design for new product development
• Establish and implement testing for new product evaluation
• Locate and develop outside resources for product development
• Check and approve mechanical drawings prior to issuing to manufacturing
• Assist in process optimization for products and engineering instructions specific to the department
• Investigate Great Idea (suggestion program) requests
• Prototype new designs and changes to existing products
• Assist in the design, manufacturing and assembly of jigs, fixtures and tools
• Train manufacturing personnel on processes, assembly techniques and testing
• Document technical aspects of assigned projects and ensures that data is properly retained (Project/Design History files, Design Reviews, Lab Notebooks etc.)
• Follows all company regulatory policies and procedures including by not limited to FDA/GMP and OSHA/IOSHA

Experience / Education Requirements:
• Requires Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 3-5 years experience in a manufacturing environment with refrigeration experience; additional experience in sheet metal fabrication preferred
• Excellent organizational (multi-tasking) and communication (verbal & written) skills required
• Basic computer skills required with experience in Word, Excel and other Microsoft products
• CAD experience required; 2D AutoCAD with 3D modeling (Inventor) a plus

 

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING TECHNICIANS
Primary Responsibilities:
• Assist in process optimization for products and engineering instructions specific to the department.
• Investigate requests for Engineering Change Order updates (Helmer’s Great Idea system)
• Assist in the design, manufacturing and assembly of jigs, fixtures and tools.
• Train manufacturing personnel on processes, assembly techniques and testing.
• Work with engineering to design, assemble and test prototype and production components.
• Works with Purchasing and Engineering to select and test alternate components.
• Accurately document component and assembly drawing changes for review and processing as official Engineering Change Orders.
• Obtain test data per Engineering instruction or documented test procedures.  Accurately record data; create reports and communicate with engineering to resolve non-compliant conditions. Work with programmable data acquisition systems and PC based Data Logging. Set up standard test apparatus to conduct functional, operational, environmental, and life tests to evaluate performance and reliability of prototype or production model. Analyze and interprets test data. Write technical reports.
• Provide testability/manufacturability feedback to Engineering.  Discuss assembly procedures and problems with Mechanical Engineer and draw sketches to clarify design details and functional criteria of design. Recommend changes in design or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.
• Follows all company regulatory policies and procedures including but not limited to: FDA/GMP and OSHA/IOSHA.
• Assists in mechanical design for new product development.
• Establish and implement testing for new product evaluation

Experience & Education Requirements:
• Associates or bachelors degree in engineering
• 5 years experience in an engineering environment with exposure to manufacturing processes and equipment.
• Excellent organizational (multi-tasking) and communication (verbal & written) skills required
• Computer skills required with experience in Word, Excel and other Microsoft products
• CAD experience required, 2D AutoCAD with 3D modeling (Inventor) a plus

 

ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN
General Description: 
Provides support to Electrical Engineering efforts to include prototyping, testing and evaluation of electrical components and circuits. 

Primary Responsibilities:
• Assist in process optimization for products and engineering instructions specific to the department.
• Investigate Great Idea Requests.
• Assist in the design, manufacturing and assembly of jigs, fixtures and tools.
• Train manufacturing personnel on processes, assembly techniques and testing.
• Work with engineering to assemble and test prototype and production components, breadboard circuits, and electronic equipment. Build breadboard circuits from schematics.
• Designs and builds test sets to test electric and electronic circuits.
• Works with Purchasing and Engineering to select and test alternate electronic components.
• Troubleshoot and repair electronic equipment including development units and customer field
returns. Adjust, calibrate, align and modify circuitry and components and record effects on unit performance.
• Accurately document schematic and assembly drawing changes for review and processing as official Engineering Change Orders.
• Obtain test data per Engineering instruction or documented test procedures.  Accurately record data on data sheets; create reports and communicate with engineering to resolve non-compliant conditions. Work with programmable data acquisition systems, PC based Data Logging and programmable power supplies and load banks. Set up standard test apparatus to conduct functional, operational, environmental, and life tests to evaluate performance and reliability of prototype or production model. Analyze and interprets test data. Write technical reports.
• Provide testability/manufacturability feedback to Engineering.  Discuss layout and assembly procedures and problems with Electronics Engineer and draw sketches to clarify design details and functional criteria of electronic units. Recommend changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.
• Must be familiar with electronic components, such as capacitors, resistors, semiconductor devices and assemblies used in electronic equipment.
• Follows all company regulatory policies and procedures including but not limited to: FDA/GMP and OSHA/IOSHA.
• Assists in electrical design for new product development.
• Establish and implement testing for new product evaluation
• Tests and validates new and updated software.

Experience & Education Requirements:
• Associates degree in EET required
• 1-3 years experience prototyping, testing and evaluating electrical components & circuits in a manufacturing environment.
• Excellent organizational (multi-tasking) and communication (verbal & written) skills required
• Computer skills required with experience in Word and Excel and AutoCAD

 

EXPORT CLERK / INTERNATIONAL SALES ASSISTANT
General Responsibilities
This position will be responsible for export documentation, order entry and providing administrative support to the International department.

Primary Responsibilities
• Enter International orders which would include daily correspondence by email/telephone, providing product information to customers, and addressing shipping issues
• Create export documents for all international shipments (including SLI’s, Commercial Invoice, Nafta, Letter of Credit, certificate of origin, etc.)
• Calculate weight/dimensions for all international orders and calling in to forwarders for freight pick-up
• Communicate requests for freight quotes.
• Create certificates of conformity, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, etc. for current products or shipments reviewing procedures
• Handle export/import compliance issues

Experience / Skills / Education Requirements
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in related field.
• 1-3 years export clerk/customer service experience in sales office environment.  Life science or related field experience a plus.
• International exposure and/or multi-lingual proficiency a plus.
• Detailed oriented and demonstrated ability to work with minimal procedural documentation and/or supervision.
• Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills required.
• Strong computer skills required with knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook – knowledge of Vantage a plus
• Effective communication skills required, including a clear speaking voice, active listening skills and commitment to follow-up.

 

ACCOUNT PAYABLE / ACCOUNTING CLERK
General Description
This position will be responsible for accurately processing accounts payable functions.  Will also process and submit multi-state sales tax returns and assist with other accounting projects.

Primary Responsibilities
Accounts Payable Responsibilities
• Daily process of accounts payable invoices, including orders processed through a purchase order, miscellaneous expense invoices, freight invoices and employee expense reports
• Process of debit memos for returned product
• Weekly check batch process
• Process monthly credit card payments

Sales Tax Responsibilities
• Currently responsible for sales tax and nexus for multiple states
• Staying current and up to date on sales tax laws and regulations
• Collecting sales tax exempt forms from Helmer customers
• Submit timely and accurate sales tax returns

Other Projects Would Include But Not Limited To
• Collecting W-9 information from Helmer vendors to process yearly 1099 statements
• Keeping company insurance information up to date
• Assist Accounts Receivable and Accounting Team Leader

Experience / Skills / Education Requirements
• 1-3 years Accounts Payable and General Ledger background
• Knowledge of Accounting basics
• Knowledge of multi-state sales tax regulations preferred
• High level of organizational (multi-tasking) and communication (verbal & written) skills required
• Candidate must be able to follow systems and procedures repeatedly and accurately
• Candidate must have a high level of integrity and honesty
• Strong computer skills required with knowledge of Windows Office (Outlook, Word and Excel)
• ERP system experience preferred
• Ability to work well with other departments
• Full or part time will be considered

 

TECHNICAL WRITER
General Description: This position will be responsible for the creation and revision of user guides, service manuals, and related media to support Helmer’s product lines, along with maintenance and communications regarding product documentation. 

General Responsibilities:
• Create and/or maintain product user guides & technical manuals based on information from multiple sources. Sources may include engineering specifications, drawings, and hands-on product usage.
• Gather, evaluate, organize, and present information to meet the needs of various audiences.
• Coordinate internal and external production and distribution of technical documentation.
• Continually monitor system and product changes to ascertain effects on documentation.
•Create, edit, and maintain illustrations for use in documentation.
• Design and produce new forms of online and printed documentation.
• Demonstrate technical ability to understand and operate Helmer products.
• Communicate documentation changes both internally and externally.
• Work with others to maintain internal and external access to published documentation.
• Work with other departments to assess needs & documentation issues, including training needs. 
• Analyze current system processes and initiate changes as appropriate to meet business needs.
• Extremely detail-oriented. 
• Ability to manage multiple projects & meet deadlines. 
• Proven ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision & minimal instructions.

Skill / Knowledge / Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Technical degree or equivalent work experience.
• 2-3 yrs technical writing experience preferred. 
• Demonstrated writing, editing, and document production skills. 
• Excellent verbal & written communication skills are critical. 
• Familiarity with documentation layout and graphic design, both print and online. 
• Computer skills including MS Office, page layout, photo editing, and illustration software. Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite is a plus. 
• Ability to work & adapt quickly in a dynamic environment in which direction may change periodically.
